Back in Portland

We’re back.

Brian and I are SO glad to be home.  We love getting away, but home is where the heart is.

However, it seems as though we have returned only to find turbulence on land.  It seems to be surrounding me… in the ministry I lead (but that’s expecting… they’re students) and in friendships.  I think the one that revolves around students will be easy.  I just need to be the mediator for that.  The one that’s a bit more personal may take more time.

Why are girls so mean?

Working on how to remedy it right now.

Please pray.

I don’t know the answer..but yes girls are mean. As far as girls who become mean because they were guys who were mean to them…well, is it the chickens first or eggs? For the most part…some guys are just guys….unless they’re a renaissance man like me :)

Ah I’ve been going through some stuff also, and I feel like being philosophical today.

    Email me JClay….

I’d like to say they’re not…but they sort of are. I saw it the most when I was teaching 7th grade – is it inherent?

AND… people seem meaner.. when they’re hungry? (and this does not always include food.) ;)

I was talking to Kim McManus tonight and she said that Erwin says that’d he’d rather his name be dragged through the mud a million times and have his life help lead one person to Christ than not at all…

.. if you are in any way shape or form involved in the latter of that thought.. then be certain that your name will be dragged..

*the enemy comes to steal, kill, and destroy*

And God.. came to give hope, faith, love and joy! I pray that this be a time when the character of God shines brightest through you! I love you bigs!

    AND.. I’ll kill her.

What? Did I say that? Apparently God is still working on my character. ;)

    Welcome home Jenni!

I’m in the middle of a book called “fight like a girl” by Lisa Bevere.
There’s a line in the book that helps me answer the “why are women mean?” question.

In order “to win, the enemy had to divide, to conquer.”
Women were designed with “insight and influence for healing and nurture”
It talks about God’s design for women, that “we were not initially formed for battle, but for life, nurture and relationship.”

The enemy attacks the heart of what God designed and when we lose sight of what God is doing in our midst, the capacity we have for nurture and relationship is twisted.

Women, we must choose to live for somthing more than the immediate and remember that the enemy isn’t one another, we need to behave and get to work doing what God has us here to do.
OK i’ll get off my soapbox now :-)

p.s. one more bit from this book
“Paradise had a problem, and we were God’s answer. Think of it! You are somebody’s answer. You are something’s answer. There is a problem out there only your presence can solve. There is a broken and wounded heart to which only you can administer healing. You are a voice to the mute. You are beauty amid desolation.”

Janet… that is SO good. Thank you for sharing that. I’ll be going out to get that book now. I LOVE you!

    So you’re saying I can’t kill anyone? … ok. I’ll submit. ;)

We are all beauty.. and when we focus on the wrong things.. we have allowed the enemy to destract us from the things that are indeed beautiful.. and create ugly poo stories that reflect our poo hearts.. and that stinks. I mean it!

I have had lots of shots of espresso and been working since 3:30am.. please forgive me.. I know no boundaries at this point.

    Let’s pray.
