Paxton’s First Shower Gift

My thoughtful friend, Melinda, dropped by today with a gift not only for Paxton, but one for big brother Chance too.

Here is a Mom who KNOWS and cares about the feelings of the current only child :)  Chance was so happy.

These cute little boots are WAY too beautiful to ever put on a child.  I’m pretty sure they’ll just sit on Paxton’s shelf for awhile.  It’s pretty amazing craftmanship.

Chance received a wooden walking duck-on-a-stick.  I’ll have to take a picture later for you… but it’s great because it’s a quiet toy.

Thank you, Melinda.  I appreciate how you are always thinking of my family and praying for us… even in the midst of chaos.  You are a dear friend!

Baby Showers Bring More… Flowers?

I am fortunate enough to have TWO groups of people throwing baby showers for me.

My good friends, Jenn Wilson, Alli McKenney and Holly Resnick are throwing me one next weekend and my new church family at Church! at Bethany are throwing a combined one (there’s three of us ladies due in November… YIKES!) the following week.

Though I am SUPER DUPER grateful and quite excited to spend time with girlfriends and just relax for a bit, I have to wonder:

Is it a bit excessive to have a baby shower when you already have all the stuff you need from the first kid?

Granted, I DO need some practical things like diapers, diaper genie refills, new crib sheets (since Chance is still in a toddler bed), etc… but we ALL know not all people shop using the registration.  Most of the fun of being invited to a baby shower is shopping for the things we OURSELVES want to see a baby in… not necessarily what they registered for.  I’ve been guilty of this myself.  I mean… how do you stay with the registry when there’s SO much cutie patootie stuff out there?

Here’s the problem with that:

Chance and Paxton will be sharing a room once Paxton is a few months old and ready to not be in bassinet in our room.  I have a major fear of clutter.  I spend most of my life clearing away the clutter.  I’m worried I’ll get too much stuff I don’t need and not know what to do with it.

I sound totally ungrateful.  I really don’t mean to be…

Is this ridiculous of me?  You can tell me… REALLY!

Floating Thoughts

I’m tired, but I’m feeling the need to post something… so FLOATING THOUGHTS it is:

  • At 8 weeks till due date, I’m DEFINITELY feeling contractions.  However, I usually only contract after dinner time-ish and I mostly contract on the RIGHT side of my belly.  So weird.
  • I still haven’t received the results from my 4 hour long glucose test yet.  Makes me a bit nervous.
  • When Chance says the word “KEEP”, it actually comes out as “PEEK”.  i.e. “Mommy, I like to peek jumping!”
  • Daniel Valeri is in Portland visiting for a couple of day.  Of course he’s staying with us, and I couldn’t be more happy to see him :)
  • Chance finally started eating salad this week.  He’s been avoiding it, telling me “I don’t want salad!” till now.  The secret – add Annie’s Cowgirl Ranch Dressing and croutons.  My all time favorite is Annie’s Shiitake & Sesame Vinaigrette.  I could not be more happy about this.
  • I just realized… Chance has NEVER thrown up.  Ever.  As an infant, he barely even spit up.  That’s awesome.  I’m thinking #2 MAY be a puker.
  • My throat is really sore, and I can feel my sinuses getting more congested.  Thanks Chance & Brian!  Ugh!
  • My housekeeper is coming this morning to clean my house.  YAY!  We hired her the moment I realized it took me longer to get up and down to clean the floors and tubs than it did for me to actually clean them.  HA!
  • My sister, Renee, just had a birthday and turned 28… AND my Mom just had a birthday too… and I don’t think I’m supposed to tell you how old she is :)
  • MY 30th Birthday is 7 days away.  WHOA!!!
  • My husband is so sweet and giving me a back rub right now.  HOWEVER… he just said my back feels like frog eggs.  (1) How does he know what frog eggs feel like?  (2) I hate him.
  • I think I have a rib out.  Ouch.
  • I got my Pocket PC and MacBook Pro to sync up via Missing Sync.  Saved me the cost of an iPhone (and AT&T) I didn’t really want.
  • I DO want the new Sprint Instinct though.  Though I am pro-Mac/Apple Products, I am NOT pro-iPhone.
  • Just thought I’d update you on the runner-up names for Paxton Joel (not in any specific order):  Lincoln, Cade, Ryland and Josiah.
That’s all for now, I think.

Baby #2 Name

At 32 weeks, we’ve finally come to a decision on the name of Baby #2.

You can stop calling him “Baby #2″ or “Baby Boy” or “the Bump” now and you can start calling him by his name:

PAXTON JOEL

Where did we get this name?  Good question…

I made up “Paxton”.  When I say “I made it up”, I mean I’m sure it really exists and someone else is named that, but we didn’t get it out of a book or anything.  I was getting my hair done and it just popped up in my head.

“Pax” means PEACE in Latin.  I remember singing that in high school.  I’m definitely at a place in my life where I feel God’s peace.

“Joel” means The Lord is God.  Joel was also a minor prophet in the Bible.

What a declaration of meaning in a name!

We’re happy to finally have a name for our son.  I can’t wait to meet him in less than 8 weeks.
