On Mission
I was reading this months HomeLife Magazine, featuring Erwin and Kim McManus. Let me share an excerpt with you:
Kim will tell you that her family isn
Sick, Depressed or PMS???
I don’t know what’s been going on with me the last couple of days, but I feel like I just want to lay down, watch movies back to back and pass out. I don’t know if I’m getting sick (Jay is out there spreading his disease), if I’m headed towards depression of the BRAIN or if I’m PMSing.
Since I couldn’t figure it out, I cleaned my kitchen of all living micro-organisms… from top to bottom. Then I sat down on the couch and ate some chocolate bars.
Rejected… then Drop-Kicked
I had a date set with my "flakey" friend tonight. She flakes on me often. I must say out of all my friends, she’s the flakiest one I’ve ever actually known (None of you know her since she doesn’t attend Sunset nor has she ever hung out with any of my other friends… so stop trying to guess who it is).
Tonight was actually a raincheck of a raincheck of a raincheck (cancellations in order of the most recent: 1.Chance had Roseola, so I said "Let’s have a girls night in… movie and dinner here. She decided to cancel which is understandable. 2.She cancelled at about 4pm. 3.She cancelled the morning of).
Yes, you read it correctly. THREE rainchecks… well… tonight would be FOUR.
That’s right, my loyal readers, she bailed on me tonight again. Tonight was the worst though because the sitter was already at my house and I was already OUT THE DOOR.
So… I had to change my plans. I had dinner by myself, instead of with my family. Brian was out with his boyfriends anyway (Singley, Resnick and Soule) playing pool at Uptown Billiards. Then, I went shopping like a crazy woman at Old Navy… mostly for Brian because nothing really fits me there.
That sort of made me feel better… like I wasn’t some unwanted loser friend who is last picked for the team. For a moment, I didn’t feel like a complete reject who’s friend picked an unscheduled "meeting" over a date night that had been set a week prior. For a brief second, I didn’t feel like I got dressed up and out of my "Mom Clothes" for no reason.
Then, the cashier said, "Thanks… buh-bye!!!" and I realized the one person that cared for me at the moment got her commission and wanted me to leave.
*sigh*
