Dirty Girls

What is Dirty Girls Ministries?

You see an ad block on my blog and on my Facebook page.  I’ve written about this ministry before on THIS PAST POST but I’d love to remind you NOW that if you were just gonna one day get around to checking out this website, that one day should be now.

Dirty Girls Ministries (DGM) is a Christian anti-pornography ministry created to help women who struggle with pornography addiction. DMG was founded by my friend, Crystal Renaud, in February 2009.

The mission of Dirty Girls is to:

  1. Bring awareness to the porn problem among women today
  2. Show struggling women they are not alone
  3. Demonstrate hope for recovery from this addiction
  4. Explain that the Bible and Jesus have the answer

Dirty Girls offers:  Recovery Groups, Coaching NetworksResources and Prayer Support.

That’s pretty awesome, in my humble opinion.  So, what are you waiting for.  Go check it out!

Just thought I’d stop by and say Hi. I happened to read a comment you left at Sarah’s site and clicked on your link. I agree with you. I still watch them sometimes but I do so with a guarded heart and mind. Thanks for sharing!!

Julie… you still watch porn with a guarded heart and mind? i’m not sure what you’re referring to.

Jenni – I was referring to the comment you made as follows:

Jen – “define pornography” – great topic… seriously. i actually call “chick flicks” girl porn because it feeds into a lie that everything ends up happily ever after. it can cause women to not feel happy in their marriage or to compare what they have to something that doesn’t exist. porn for women isn’t always the same physical/visual porn as porn for men… however, it’s becoming more and more that way.

I sometimes watch Chick flicks when they are on TV – such as Pretty Woman, An Officer and a Gentleman, Beaches, Sabrina – to name a few – love stories, secular as they are, with a guarded heart and mind. I don’t have to watch them, sometimes I don’t want to watch them – but I can watch them knowing who I am in Christ and knowing that it is a story.

That is what I meant. :-)

PHEW!!! Thanks for the clarification, Julie. I’ve commented on Sarah’s posts multiple times so I wasn’t sure what you were referring to.

I too still watch “chick flicks” every now and then… though it’s more like twice a year now… and I usually watch them WITH Brian. HA! I still think they’re pretty lame though. I’m glad you’re aware that they aren’t “real”… Hollywood, that is.

Jenni – I rededicated my life to Christ 2 years ago and for several months was on the mountain top and really thought I ready to be in heaven. I was high on the Lord. I’m so thankful for His Call on my life but I get bogged down by my sin nature. I don’t like it that we still sin. I don’t like being selfish, or impatient or my lack of self-discipline. I love Him though and I know in my head that His grace IS sufficient.

I’m with you on that, sistah! Part of the “working through sin” is what helps refine us and make us MORE into the person God created us to be. The sin part sucks… but if we choose the humility “on-the-ground-face-down” repentance and remorse POST sin, then we get to experience life in such a MUCH MORE amazing way.
