I Love Photoshop

I couldn’t post these till now.

Last week, Kurt, Kembe and I counted down for Mike’s arrival.  We couldn’t wait for him to get here.  We decided to take pictures and "white out" where he SHOULD have been with us.  It was our way of letting him know we were anxiously awaiting his arrival… and that he belongs with us on our team.

We took pictures (with Aaron Soule as the stunt double) and I traced Aaron’s outline to make it "Mike".

Here are the finals (you can click on them to enlarge):OfficeStaff_mtgStorage_closetParking_spot_2

In order from left to right, top to bottom:

  1. Mike in his office
  2. Student Ministries Staff Meeting
  3. Storage Closet that needs cleaning
  4. Reserved Parking for Youth Pastors
  5. At Starbucks
  6. Kurt & Mike in the loo (weird… I know)
  7. At the Watercooler (no one really does this, do they?)
  8. Out in the field – Westview HS

It’s important to help make co-workers needed and appreciated.

How do you do that with/for your staff?

I’ll tell you how my boss DOESN’T do that…

That’s a big pet peeve I’ve had with my job. There is an inconsistency in being a Christian organization that doesn’t make an effort to make your employees feel valued. Sad.

But because we’re a street children’s charity, there’s a culture of guilt for feeling under-valued: ‘What about the children?’

I’m just as passionate about the children as anyone, but it’s not an excuse to treat your own people like they don’t matter.

Sorry. Sensitive subject. ;) Your pictures are really fun!

    Great point, Faith…

I think working in a non-profit has enough difficult and trying variables (all jobs do, actually)… so if we can have a team loving environment, it just boosts morale, right?

I’ll be praying for your work situation. That’s really tough. All of us need grace though… especially our managers.
