Painting Pumpkins

After a long day of work and forward planning (mostly for my maternity leave), I came home to spend some quality time with my only child (I can only say this for 30 more days).

We painted the pumpkins we got last Sunday.  I’ve never painted, carved or known what to do with pumpkins… so it was a first time for Chance AND me.  It was a crafting adventure.

Chance loved every moment.  Here are the pictures:

Sweet boy!

He loves to paint… the WHOLE pumpkin white :)

I was letting the white of the eyes dry before adding the pupils.  Looks freaky, I know.

Here are the finished pumpkins.  They may not be perfect… but Chance got to paint :)

Pumpkins:  $5

Paint & Brushes:  $3

Craft Time with Chance and ONLY Chance:  $$$-PRICELESS-$$$

I love the idea of painting pumpkins instead of carving them! Perfect for little kids! If we can squeeze in a visit to the pumpkin patch this year maybe we’ll try it.

I love that your pumpkin is HUGE! Just like your belly…

um… helen… just so you know, that BIG pumpkin is Brian. I’m the middle one and the little one is Chance’s.

can i just say it’s pretty weird starting traditions in my little family that we never did as kids? it’s a really great adventure though.

There is no better and more satisfying Halloween craft for the little ones than pumpkin painting. And each one is a perfect work of art!
