I’ve gotten many inquiries about my homemade pizza.  For those who are interested in making a pizza from scratch, I figured I’d post my recipe here to share.  Then, it’s like we’re all having dinner together!

Clayville's Pizza

I originally got this basic recipe from my friend, Laura, but have definitely changed it up a bit to spice it up for my family. Pretty easy and yummy!

PIZZA DOUGH:

  • 1 1/2 cups warm water
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp brown sugar

Mix and let that sit for about 10 minutes.  Then add:

  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • thyme, oregano, parsley & garlic salt to taste

I toss all this in my mixer, then ball dough and place into a greased bowl for 45 minutes to rise.  From there, you’re good to go. Before I bake it, I brush some olive oil on the crust and sprinkle with garlic salt.  This gives the crust a crunch and some taste.

TOMATO SAUCE:

  • 1 6oz can of tomato paste
  • 1/2 cup of water
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 tsp sage
  • 2 cloves of garlic (pressed)
  • salt to taste

Mix well.  Add your favorite toppings… and voila!

I promise it’s super easy!  If you don’t have time to prep the dough before dinner time, you can always set up the dough the night before and bake it for 10 minutes so it’s ready to go the next day.

  1. Does the dough spread well or do you have trouble with it bouncing back to a tiny little circle? That has always been my problem with homemade pizza crust. Didn’t stop me from eating it (in large quantities) though. :)

surprisingly, no. i’ve tried a few other recipes… and the ones without yeast seem to bounce back way more than this recipe.

Looks awesome! What’s the time and temp for baking the pizza though?

375* to 400* – it usually depends on how much stuff i put on there :)
