Worship Confessional (LGO) – 02.11.09

lgonline

I thought I’d start Worship Confessionals for when I lead at LifeGroup Online (LGO) since I AM leading worship there and it’s definitely a WAY different experience than what I do in front of a LIVE in-person congregation.

LGO is currently going through The Search For Significance by Robert McGee. This is one of my favorite books (I think I’ve gone through it 4 times now and I learn something new in it EVERY SINGLE TIME) so I was excited to share this with LGO.

Last night, we started with 3 songs and responded with 1 more:

  1. You Alone – David Crowder
  2. Not To Us – Chris Tomlin
  3. How Great Is Our God – Chris Tomlin
  4. You’ll Come – Brooke Fraser

It was a strange experience seeing faces looking back at me on Tokbox.  Of course everyone muted themselves (eventually).  Some people were singing along, and some just sat and watched… sorta like church :)

So, what do YOU think about Lifegroup Online?  If you were there… how can we make the worship experience part better?  If you weren’t there, what are your thoughts of a web-based lifegroup in general??

SHARE your thoughts, dear friends :)

Worship Confessional – 02.08.09

Today was the first day in our new series about MONEY MANAGEMENT.  Practical, right???

It was Mark & myself on guitars today and Liz on keys.  It’s always fun to have three part harmony.

Here was our Sunday Setlist:

  1. Not To Us – Chris Tomlin
  2. King of Glory – Chris Tomlin
  3. Mighty To Save – Reuben Morgan
  4. Heart of Worship – Matt Redman
  5. Holiness – Scott Underwood
  6. Desert Song – Brooke Fraser
  7. You Alone – David Crowder

It was good to call everyone back to the “Heart of Worship” after Matt talked about what we should really do with our finances in this economy.  Well… I think I was mostly calling myself back to the heart of worship.

Church! at Bethan

I’m blown away week after week over what kind of man our Pastor is.  I know if he had extra money, he would put it all back into the church or into our community.

It’s no secret, that if I had more freedom in my finances, it would go to one of two things:

  1. Paying off debt
  2. Fun material items

I don’t want to be THAT kind of person.  I want the least of these to benefit from my mere existence.  I WANT to find myself in THAT place, where my heart’s desire is to make it ALL about Jesus.

Man… I have a LONG ways to go.

So, tell me…

if you had an extra $10,000 a month, what would you do with the money???

Worship Confessional – 02.01.09

Today was the last day of our 30 Days to Live Series.

Whenever we wrap up a series, I wonder how much of what Matt says is actually taken to heart… enough for them to take action.  Time will tell, I guess.

The Set:

  1. Let The Praises Ring – Lincoln Brewster
  2. Forever – Chris Tomlin
  3. Meet With Me – Ten Shekel Shirt
  4. Desert Song – Brooke Fraser
  5. Hosanna – Brooke Fraser
  6. Till I See You – Joel Houston
  7. Jesus Paid It All – Kristian Stanfill

I had an allergy attack yesterday.  I think it was cat allergies, but I’m not totally sure.  You see… when I get about, oh let’s say, 20 miles to a cat, my eyes tear up, my throat closes up and my face blows up.  It lasts a couple of days.

At least, I AM sure I’m not sick because I feel a million times better today.  I had a pretty bad allergy hangover today though and I felt like it totally affected my voice in leading worship this morning.

With that said, I still felt that today’s service went really well.  Everything ran REALLY smoothly and connected.

How was YOUR weekend service?

Plug

Got a plug from Matt Payne today.

Thanks, Matt… and I’m really looking forward to serving alongside you :)

End of the Year Celebration

Saturday was my last formal Student Worship Team get together.

We had most of the team up at the Rupprecht’s home for a BBQ. It was our chance to celebrate the end of a crazy year… and MAN did we celebrate. Blake pulled together his makeshift slip-n-slide. We did wonder if it was going to kill someone – but in the end, no one cared… they just wanted to slide.

They gave me a VERY generous gift to Tres Bon (my hair salon). I guess they asked Brian what I needed and my sweet husband said, “She’s got a lot of gray. Help a girl out!” So they did. I’m SUPER excited about it cuz I was trying to save money and started taking a black sharpie to my roots. It was working… sort of.

It was such a bittersweet ending to my time at Sunset. I really tried to keep it fun and not emotional.

These students have meant the world to me… they still do. They’ve taught me more about worship and service than they’ll ever know. I’m looking forward to my time with my kids and “moving on” to worship with other brothers and sisters at Church! At Bethany, but I will never EVER forget how Sunset Students have impacted my life for the better.

** I would totally post pictures… but WordPress hates me. Boo!
