Worship Confessional (LGO) – 02.11.09

lgonline

I thought I’d start Worship Confessionals for when I lead at LifeGroup Online (LGO) since I AM leading worship there and it’s definitely a WAY different experience than what I do in front of a LIVE in-person congregation.

LGO is currently going through The Search For Significance by Robert McGee. This is one of my favorite books (I think I’ve gone through it 4 times now and I learn something new in it EVERY SINGLE TIME) so I was excited to share this with LGO.

Last night, we started with 3 songs and responded with 1 more:

  1. You Alone – David Crowder
  2. Not To Us – Chris Tomlin
  3. How Great Is Our God – Chris Tomlin
  4. You’ll Come – Brooke Fraser

It was a strange experience seeing faces looking back at me on Tokbox.  Of course everyone muted themselves (eventually).  Some people were singing along, and some just sat and watched… sorta like church :)

So, what do YOU think about Lifegroup Online?  If you were there… how can we make the worship experience part better?  If you weren’t there, what are your thoughts of a web-based lifegroup in general??

SHARE your thoughts, dear friends :)

REAL Rehearsal

A quick peek into what Holly and my rehearsal times look like.

Btw… Holly is a ROCKSTAR cuz she LITERALLY heard this song for the first time only minutes before we hit record.

Props, girl… PROPS!!!

Worship Confessional – 01.25.09

We got home a little past midnight last night.  Paxton was a pretty awesome little sleeper and the whole way home from Medford.

But by the time we got home, fed him, unpacked and got prepped for the next day, it was almost 2am.  Of course he also had to wake up twice to be fed.

At about 7:30am, Paxton started crying.  He RARELY cries… but when he does, he stops pretty quickly once we meet his needs.  However, 1.5 hours later, he’s still crying.  Poor baby had gas.  Needless to say, we were pretty exhausted this morning.

I think it goes without saying that I was pretty scattered by the time I got to church.

All I could do was pray that God would work quickly to get me to the place where I could authentically lead and not “fake” it.

Can’t say I was there the first half, but by the second half (response time), God met me right where I needed Him to be.

This was the set:

  1. Evermore – Joel Houston
  2. Better Than Life – Marty Sampson
  3. King of Glory – Chris Tomlin
  4. SPECIAL: Legacy – Nichole Nordeman
  5. Till I See You – Joel Houston
  6. How Great Is Our God – Chris Tomlin
  7. Shout To The Lord – Darlene Zschech

I’ve been leading all these songs for years now, but Evermore and Till I See You are BRAND new to Church! at Bethany.  I was SUPER excited to introduce Till I See You because it is one of my favorite songs EVER.  It’s my life anthem:

The greatest love that anyone could ever know
That overcame the cross and grave to find my soul
And ’til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I’ll trust in You

With all I am I’ll live to see Your kingdom come
And in my heart I pray You’d let Your will be done
And ’til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I’ll trust in You

I will live to love You
I will live to bring You praise
I will live a child in awe of You

You are the voice that calls the universe to be
You are the whisper in my heart that speaks to me
And ’til I see You face to face and grace amazing takes me home
I’ll trust in you

You alone are God of all
You alone are worthy Lord
And with all I am my soul will bless Your name

I’ve been singing it to Chance ever since he was born.  Actually, I sing it to my kids almost every night as a lullaby.  Chance can actually sing every word at the ripe young age of three.  I’ll have to video that someday.

What’s YOUR favorite worship song of all time?

Missing Chords

Hey guys…

I need some help.  I quickly captured this with PhotoBooth so sorry about the quality… but I’m not trying to be professionally perfect at this moment. If you have any musical background or have a good ear… you are who I need.

Please watch the video below:

Please help me fill in the blanks if you can.

Worship Confessional – 07.27.08

Last night was my last Overflow. Talk about bittersweet – but I didn’t cry once. Maybe because this wasn’t my first last time.

HA!

It as a great last night. We had almost 300 people in the gym.

We had a late start in practice and set up. We were re-setting everything from Houseboat Camp still so, it took some time. The plus side was the team had two weeks worth of practicing these songs already.

It ended up being a short set. Because of time, we had to cut two songs so our set was:

  1. From The Inside Out – Hillsong
  2. Grace Like Rain – Todd Agnew
  3. I Worship You – Generation Unleashed
  4. Hosanna – Hillsong
  5. Solution – Hillsong

We finally got to do the awesome (but shortened) transition between Hosanna and Solution I’d been dying to do.

The band:

  • Drums: Mike Fraser
  • Bass: Miles Johnson
  • Electric: Jordan Johnson
  • Acoustic/Vox: Nick Lind
  • Acoustic/Vox: Rebecca Strott
  • Keys/Worship Leader: ME

Tech Team:

  • Sound: Blake Rupprecht
  • Lights: Brendon Quinn
  • Graphics: Jenn Greiner
  • Switcher: Abby Fraser
  • Producer: Katelyn Bonn
  • Stage Manager: Hillary Davault

What a great team to end my run here with! I feel SO blessed to have had this second chance to worship with these students.

I believe in this next generation. I believe they will rise up and shout of His glory in selfless faith… but they cannot do it without our prayers.

Just because I’m not here with them doesn’t mean I’ll ever stop praying for them. I know that God uses me now in extraordinary ways because someone prayed for me LONG LONG ago. I, of all people, was bound for a life of being ordinary and less than (seriously… ask my friends who knew me in high school)… but God is good and has proven time and time again that He uses all who are willing.

I’m JUST starting the process of cleaning my desk… but I’m not feeling very motivated right now.

I think I’ll just try to figure out WordPress instead. I’m not really sure how to add media right now. Correction – I’m not sure how to keep my media from all I’ve imported from Typepad once I close out that account.

Um… not good.

I’m also about to call “RSS Feed Bankruptcy”. Since Houseboat, I still have about 800+ posts I haven’t read sitting in Google Reader.

One step at a time, people. One step at a time!
