Paxton’s Nursery

Oh Saturday… how you’ve kept me busy all day long.

Our main goal yesterday and today was to get Paxton all settled in his new nursery.  He was camping out in our room in a cradle, but the cradle was getting way too small… or he’s way too big.  He’d roll over and get his legs caught in between the rails, therefore waking himself up.

We have two guest rooms so we decided to turn one of them into HIS room.  Here’s the before:

And here’s how it looks now (click on the picture to enlarge):

So… I figured while I was moving Pax into his new room, I’d “upsize” and re-organize both boys’ dressers and closets.  That was a pretty big project.  It involved lots of plastic bins, folding of laundry, separating for Goodwill and packing Chance’s “outgrown” clothes away.

In the process, Chance decided to pack himself away:

I’m TOTALLY done now… and spent.  But at least now, I can fall asleep in my own room ALONE with Brian.

YAY sleep!.. Maybe.

4 Hours as Kimora Lee Simmons

Ok… not really… but I can pretend, right?

My friend, Becky Owens, gifted me two hours with a professional organizer from Restoring Order. And if that wasn’t awesome enough, the owner, Vicki Norris, gifted me another two hours after hearing about our housing crisis.

This is a dream gift for someone like me.  HELLO… bringing someone in to help me be even MORE organized than I already am.  That flippin’ ROCKS!

Amanda acted as my personal assistant for FOUR hours.  She and I basically brainstormed what details I could have been missing regarding the move.  Almost everything she brought up, I had already done or was on my list to be done later.

After a half hour, she said something along the lines of, “Well… looks like you’ve got everything pretty much planned out and done.  What would you like me to do?”  to which I replied, “Talk to Verizon!”

I HATE Verizon.  Whenever I call them, I spend the majority of my day on the phone with them.  So, Amanda called all the services we use to schedule a moving order.  That took 3 hours, the majority of the time being with Verizon (I totally called it!!!).  When I actually had to be on the phone to approve something, she folded my laundry, played with Chance or prepped the next detail to be worked on.

We now have very little left to do.  Just some easy packing (literally, throw the remainder of the rooms in a box) and the physical part of moving.  There’s definitely a LOT less anxiety swimming around in my head now.

I felt like Kimora Lee Simmons for a second with a personal assistant.  But then I realized that I was missing the Bentleys, personal chef, large mansion, MORE personal assistants, couture wardrobe, supermodel status and height, glamourous career and SCHLOADS of money.

I am NOT Kimora Lee Simmons…

… but it still felt good to even think it for a second!

If anyone in the Portland area needs some help with organization, I would DEFINITELY refer you to Restoring Order.  They are FANTASTIC!!!  Thanks Becky… my dear friend :)

Baby Shower (x3)

Yesterday, Faye Whitacre & Janice Clemson threw me and two other girls from church (Mandy & Kristine) a baby shower.  All of us are due November/December and so the bumped us all together and celebrated our babies in one party.

Mandy is having her first and Kristine is having her third.

I have never seen so many baby gifts all in one place as I did yesterday.  Seriously… there were about 20 women at the party.  Each one brought 3 gifts each, plus the three of us who brought gifts for each other.  It was crazy.

The gifts we received were mostly handmade/homemade – from quilts to scrapbooks to soft baby blocks.  Most of my good friends know I’m quite crafty myself… but I was BLOWN AWAY by the amazing talent and skill around the room.  I’m looking forward to learning some of these skills for myself.

Though I still truly miss my family at Sunset (my best friends are still there), in all honesty, my heart is starting to be filled with love for my new church family.  It’s extremely easy to love them.

Faye and Janice threw an AMAZING shower.  Great job, ladies!!!

I’ll have to post pictures later since I just emailed Faye to send them to me :)

I came home with a LOT of great gifts for Paxton.  It took me multiple trips back and forth from the car to get them all in the house.  Of course, I went right to organizing everything.  I even reorganized all the reusable gift bags and tissue paper.  I still have barely used bags and paper from Chance’s baby shower.  So what did I do???  I organized them by size and color.

I know… it’s a disease.

Would you expect anything less from me???
