By now, you have probably heard about “The Healer – by Michael Guglielmucci hoax, ARTICLE HERE.
Tyler Braun, Carlos Whittaker and Rich Kirkpatrick have written about it in their blogs along with many others.
This song is still incredibly powerful to my heart. I’ve seen God work miracles through people even though they are sinful and less than. I’ve seen Him work in and through me (amazingly, He still IS working in/thru me).
It’s apparent, Michael Guglielmucci has been struggling with something bigger than himself. And with all this publicity, this must be one of the most embarrassing things he and his family has ever gone through. Right now, Michael Guglielmucci and his family needs our prayers… not our judgment.
For one thing – I know I am NOT any better. I struggle on a daily basis with sin I want to hide. We should celebrate that he has brought this to the light and is now dealing with this issue face-to-face. As a church, we must lift him up in prayer and show him grace beyond our understanding. This is where his healing can really begin.
Here are the lyrics to the song:
You hold my every moment
You calm my raging seas
You walk with me through fire
And heal all my diseaseI trust in you
I trust in youI believe
You’re my healer
I believe
You are all i need
I believe
You’re my portion
I believe
You’re more than enough for me
Jesus, you’re all i needNothing is impossible for you
Nothing is impossible
Nothing is impossible for you
You hold my world in your hands
The words still ring true though the story behind it may not be.

Great perspective Jenni. God will still work in and around us. Thanks for extending grace.

I agree. We should all be praying for him & his family. We should also be praying for all the kids who were led to God in part because of his false claims. They, like generations before them need prayer to avoid labeling all Christians as hypocrits due to a few that either are actually hypocrits or in this guys case need help in a bad way.

totally agree. he needs our prayers

I agree with everything you say, my church is very involved with planetshakers church, and for that has shaken the church moreso i think. its very sad that he has hidden this from not only the world, but his wife and his family, for 2 years, i did look up to him, now i feel equal to him, i love him and i care for him, i think that song is someting he needs to put full faith in now cause those words Jesus is all he has, he can heal him, nothing is imposable for God and i think that that song is his future testimony, he has had the most lucky opportunity to beable to preach and sing in worship. i guess its just so hard to see what has happened and im sure that all the churchs will be with him and his family. and hope that one day it will all work out for mike.

Thanks for referring to my post…
This song indeed has TRUTH and I am humbled by your graciousness as we should be praying for those most effected such as his family. Certainly, that kind of mercy should be consistent in all of us.

I agree. I think one thing to remember is that 1) God works all things together for good, and 2) God uses what He chooses for his purposes – the good and the bad. What this man did was wrong but God can (and I’m sure allready has) used it for His glory.

I do agree with your perspective; although i can tell and personally see the way that it can hurt people to find out about the lie. Iwent to planetshakers, and have been ministered to by him. But this was devestating, trull i have been shaken by this.
I still want more confirmation on why? I know i may never find out, but i need confirmation kinda thing?

These are all great comments. It looks like most of us have grace for him… but I agree… every time I hear this song or sing it, I think of the lie behind it.
Maybe because it’s still so fresh. I’m praying that reminder lessons soon.

It is time for all of us to remember that, “But for the Grace of God go I.’ All of us live with the consequences of our actions whether good or bad, however we don’t and shouldn’t have to live with the judgement of our fellow believers. I am so glad that the Lord has thrown my sin, as far as the east is from the west. Love covers all.” Body of Christ” what an opportunity to rise up in love and pray for not only Mike but his wife and family too. As for the song, God used a donkey, it not inconceivable to me He would use a sinner to bring about His heart and bless and comfort many with it Love and blessings Melva.

true! But church has been a “safe haven” for messed up stuff. when is enough enough? Grace is the sweetest thing ever but it should be done in a way that Honors God! so alot of grace in a firm way. Lying, among other things, cannot be tolerated.
[Reply]
I totally hear what you guys are saying. This shouldn’t be without consequence.
Melva – You are so right! God has shown us over and over again in the Bible that He uses less than qualified people in extraordinary ways.
Eric – some churches are a “safe haven” and others are a parking lot of judgment. It really depends on the community. Other than his sin being SO public and devastating, I don’t see how his sin is any worse than ours. Do you feel that this mans huge lie has been tolerated? If so, how?
[Reply]
judgement is Gods deal, no one else’s. Its not a greater sin than any one elses. I dont know this guys reaction or sincerity, but I do feel its being tolerated. when I see issues like deciet in church all that happens is some embarassment, maybe some shuns and a step down from a position. thats all. a “band-aid fix. It seems to me that the mentality is this… go to church and do anything you want, theres not much consequence because grace has become a “its ok, i still love you” thing. So church gets worked because it uses grace, but in the wrong way. this guy not only should be embarassed but do alot of community service or something to give back to people.
Of course he should be loved and forgiven but not overlooked or just a small “bad”hes got to know this is not ok, and so should everyone watching. Grace is beautiful but not a “get out of jail free card”.
I know this is not fully his doing because sin is not what we were made with. However, like all of us, he chose to go through with it to this extent and it is not ok. God has done great things through his bad choices, but Mike G. getting a small consequence is not helpful for him as a person growing in faith or for how church is viewed as a whole.
Definately love Mike/his family but there are consequences. God has paid them, “but there are still rules” I think church ignores that because we want to feel good about ourselves for showing grace.

thanks for clarifying, Eric. I’m with ya, brother!
