The Beaverton Schools Clothes Closet is a volunteer service organization that provides clothing for students (who come from families of limited incomes) in grade K-12 enrolled in a Beaverton school. The Clothes Closet is staffed by Beaverton School District parent group volunteers.  Parent groups and individuals also support he Clothes Closet with financial contributions that are used to purchase new articles of clothing such as socks, underwear, coats and other hard to find items.

Students can find school-type clothing at the Clothes Closet such as jeans, t-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, warm coast, socks and underwear.

Church at Bethany helped staff volunteers last Wednesday for The Clothes Closet.

We helped stock the racks, keep it somewhat organized, check people out and basically fill in where we were needed.

Matt shopping

This last one was of Matt shopping.

We served 139 families the day we volunteered.  That’s over 1,000 articles of clothing distributed to students in the Beaverton School District just in one day.

I am so clueless to all the great programs we have available to students in our area.  Stuff like this humbles me.  It’s real community reaching out to those in need… those in need that are RIGHT down the street from us.

What are some ways your community reaches out to students in your area?
