Valentine’s Day is NOT a holiday, though people treat it like one.
It’s just another ridiculous day for us silly American consumers.
I think Valentine’s Day is the dumbest day ever… and this is not coming from a single girl. This is coming from a loved, cherished and romanced woman. My man loves me and I LOVE him. However…this day is just dumb.
Here’s my post from three years ago, back when I was on livejournal.
My thoughts are still the same. I DO have good friends, like THIS ONE, who experiences Valentine’s Day almost every day. I’m not sure how it happens for her… but it does.
Honestly… if you want to participate in showing the people you love that you ACTUALLY love them… don’t wait for this one day. Show them every day.
Valentine’s Schmalentine’s!
Valentine’s YAY or NAY??
What do you think?

Nay!

We don’t do much if anything. If we even go out for dinner it is usually very informal. When I mentioned maybe taking Lacy to Panda for dinner, I was laughed and scoffed at by a certain male co-worker of ours. Nonetheless, NAY!

My college roomie & I used to wear all black in protest, whenever this hateful day would come around–of course that was before either of us had sig others
Now although I would consider myself a huge romantic, I have learned it’s better to have no expectations for this day…then whatever happens I’m pleasantly surprised.
I remember when I used to work in a big office building downtown, and I sat by the window. Delivery truck after delivery truck would pull up with huge floral & balloon deliveries, and I used to hope & pray that one would be for me…Yes, it was both a “I want that” and “I want everyone ELSE to see I got it”.
But alas, I married someone who I love dearly, but who thinks the day is just created by Hallmark, the floral industry and the jewelry folks to make people feel guilty and/or disappointed. He also has been known to say, “I don’t need a specific day to show you & tell you how much I love you!”
So I guess it boils down to what’s more important–one day or the rest of my life? I choose the second one
