Last night was an amazing blessing. We had IDOLS Ignite Night and it went off almost completely perfectly.
It started out with 300 kids playing on inflatables, 50 or so kids auditioning for our version of "American Idol" with our Idol Judging Team, getting manicures, eating snacks, and so much more. At 7:30pm, the actual program started.
I was SO proud of my team. They got it started and running smoothly even before I got there (I was busy watching kids audition, and auditioning myself *wink wink*). We started off with a fire-juggler who had the kids jaws dropping. Then, after some announcements we started worship.
Our set was:
- He Lives – Generation Unleashed
- Break Free – Hillsong United
- The Stand – Hillsong
- Give Us Clean Hands – Charlie Hall
The energy was amazing in the room. The first two songs had the whole room jumping and dancing. The best was the "dance party" that happened during the interlude to Break Free after the words,
"There’s no escaping the truth, there’s no mistaking it’s You
God forever we’ll get up and dance, get up and dance and praise You
There’s no escaping Your love, there’s no mistaking Your light
Across the world we will get up and dance, get up and dance and praise YouAnd for all our days, we are holding onto all Your ways
We are holding onto all You’ve said and You’ve done
We are holding onto Your love…
Now we will DANCE!!!"
There was nothing better than seeing a room of 300+ dancing around and celebrating because of God’s amazing love for us. The only thing better was watching all of their hands raise in worship during The Stand. Austin told me later that he couldn’t help by tear up in that moment. Now, there’s a leader that really loves and invests in Middle Schoolers.
Jeremy, our guest speaker, did an amazing job of reeling the kids in and clearing explaining God’s love for us using the Lost Sheep as his main point.
After our response time with Give Us Clean Hands, we began our IDOL Finalists Show. Tyler and Rose (his wife) captured great video of the auditions and finals. You can find it HERE or on his blog.
Overall… it was a great night. Multiple teams came together and made this event AMAZING. One of my highlights was having some of my good friends that aren’t usually at Wildfire (Holly, Aaron, Julie, Rose, Tyler) at the program with me.
Another highlight was auditioning for them. And now, I leave you with this:
Yes… yes… I know I’m SO talented. Thanks to Kent Factora for this little snippet of goodness to all mankind.
For another version of embarrassment, check Tyler’s version of it HERE.

Seriously . . . I will laugh about this ALL day! You are truly our special girl and we love you anyway. Really . . . we do.

Found out we didn’t break 300 (kids that is… Kurt didn’t count adults) so no one’s shaving anything. That’s too bad since I kinda wanted to see Kurt’s lumpy bald head.
Laura, I’m glad you get to laugh about this all day. I’m pretty sure Tyler has been laughing about this since it’s HAPPENED.

Why are people laughing? I thought it was good!
